Working our way to wisdom; learning our way for life.

Enabling children to flourish and succeed

PHSE

At Albert Village, we follow SCARF (Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship) scheme of work to teach our children PSHE (personal, social, health education – incorporating personal, social and emotional development) and wellbeing.

Through SCARF's whole-school approach we aim to promote positive behaviour, mental health, wellbeing, resilience and achievement.

We aim to develop confident and compassionate students, who are effective contributors to society, successful learners, and responsible citizens; we want our children to acquire the skills to flourish in all areas.

Our teaching sequence is shown below:

Autumn 1 Autumn 2 Spring 1 Spring 2 Summer 1 Summer 2
Me and My Relationships Valuing Differences Keeping Safe Rights and Responsibilities Being My Best Growing and Changing
Friendships Anti-Bullying Week Safety Online Money First Aid RSE (Relationships and Sex Education)

There are a range of activities used to teach PSHE including drama, art, talk, debate, thinking skills as well as writing. Through successful teaching and learning, the children should be able to apply their skills not only in their books, but in their existence.

RSE (Relationships and Sex Education)

At Albert Village, safeguarding all of our pupils is of paramount importance. We believe that our children should be provided with age-appropriate information as they progress through the school so that they have the necessary information that will support them to make sensible choices throughout their lives.

Through our RSE (Relationships and sex education) lessons, we aim to provide them with knowledge to support their learning in emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up, relationships, sex, human sexuality and sexual health.
